Keeping track of my progress with this canvas is helping me observe where I need to shift my focus to increase productivity. For as much as I love being impulsive with paint, spending more time with developing the composition certainly would give my future paintings a more precise direction.
I will force myself to dedicate more time to the design process of future paintings. It would be foolish not assimilating my setbacks with this one, like realizing that the initial design is flat and some anatomy aspects need more attention.
With this canvas, I'm reconnecting with words of advice from different people I've met as I ventured into painting, including past art teachers and friends. It's fascinating how certain things just click long after many years from hearing them. One thing is to do what other people tell you to do, but another very different is to understand why.
